LET GOD ARISE IN ME!(was told to say this everytime i pray)

Today was a good day. Good time at uni, and had a good time at work.

Ok, today i was just flipping through the Bible and doing lots of different word searches to see what the Bible says on different things. I just wanted to read more of the Bible to understand it better and to get my basics right, because i think that i'm really poor in my word. Anyway i came across the beatitudes in Matthew 5, and this time when i read it, i noticed something different, something that i never really paid attention to when i read it before.

8Blessed are the pure in heart,
for they will see God.

Hmm wow, for some reason i've never really noticed that verse. I know that i've read the beatitudes once before, but that must have been a few years ago when i didn't really pay much attention to the word. Now that i do, everything looks different, i'm trying to absorb everything that God is trying to teach us, and im beginning to notice these small subtle verses that i would have never noticed before. 'Blessed are the pure in heart, for they will see God'. Ok the thing that caught me here was that they WILL see God. To me i find seeing God as one of the biggest things that can ever happen to me in my life. I have been praying for an encounter with God, to see God. Then this verse makes it seem so easy to see God. Its like a math formula where

pure heart = WILL see God.

They WILL see God. Its not may, or might, but WILL see God. Its like a definite sure win way of seeing God, and thats achievable by being pure in heart, which i think means having a pure heart? So for me to see God, first i must have a pure heart. Ok wow that sounds simple enough. But then the question comes to my mind. How do i get a pure heart or be pure in heart??

I did a bit a reading and came across this verse.
Psalms 51:10
10 Create in me a pure heart, O God,
and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

So here the psalmist is praying to God to create in him a pure heart. That sounds logical, to get a pure heart, pray to God to give you one. But is this the only way of obtaining a pure heart? Is there anything that you must do or can do to get a pure heart? I used a quick word search of the Bible and couldn't find anything out..So if anyone knows how to get a pure heart, or be pure in heart please let me know....

Anyway back to Matthew 5.

10Blessed are those who are persecuted because of righteousness,
for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
11"Blessed are you when people insult you, persecute you and falsely say all kinds of evil against you because of me. 12Rejoice and be glad, because great is your reward in heaven, for in the same way they persecuted the prophets who were before you.

Well we know that if we bear the name of Jesus Christ we will face persecution, we can find this in various verses like John 15:20, and 2 Timothy 3:12. But these three verses tell us of the blessings we get when we are persecuted because of righteousness. Isn't this amazing? We get blessed when we are persecuted because of righteousness or when people insult us, persecute us, and falsely say all kinds of evil against us because of God. This seems pretty shocking to me, that we get blessed when these kinds of things happens to us. I usually thought that we get blessings when we do something good, but in this case is getting persecuted for Christ something good? Do we even need to do anything in order to be persecuted for Christ? Would this relate to the jews who were killed/persecuted during the holocaust because they were jews? Would that count as being persecuted for Christ?

Anyway we should be glad when we get persecuted for Christ, because that means that we are getting blessed at the same time. In v12 it tells us to rejoice and be glad because our reward will be great in heaven, the same way the prophets before us were persecuted. I guess this is especially more relevant to those who go to other countries to preach the gospel or go on mission trips to countries where preaching of the gospel is prohibited. Here in Australia, we should be thankful that we don't get persecuted for being Christians, for believing in Christ, and for preaching the gospel. But because we don't get persecuted we get too comfortable living here, and most of the time take God's word for granted or take it lightly. I pray that we make an active effort to reach out to those around us, and rejoice and be glad when we get persecuted, because that is when our reward will be greater in the heaven. So...

persecuted for Christ = getting blessed = good thing

blessed be the name of the Lord, blessed be your glorious name...
