devotions for today was from Colossians 2:6-10.

6 As you therefore have received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk in Him, 7 rooted and built up in Him and established in the faith, as you have been taught, abounding in it with thanksgiving.
8 Beware lest anyone cheat you through philosophy and empty deceit, according to the tradition of men, according to the basic principles of the world, and not according to Christ. 9 For in Him dwells all the fullness of the Godhead bodily; 10 and you are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power.

yup its a pretty self explanatory passage, don't think there's any hidden message in these few verses, but as always its really meaningful and powerful since its from the Bible! Just a few reminders maybe, we are to walk in Christ Jesus since we have already received Him.(thank God for that) we have been rooted and established in the faith as we've been taught (definitely from the Bible and from pastors from our church), abounding in it with thanksgiving!! Really important that we are always in a state of thanksgiving..definition of abounding from the dictionary is: 'existing in abundance', and abundance can be defined as 'an amount that is more than required'. Why are we abounding in thanksgiving? Because God has already blessed us and given us so much more than we have ever required! There's a million and one things that we are thankful to God for, and may we not take things that God has blessed us with for granted :). We have also been warned to beware in case anyone cheats us according to the tradition(normal ways) of men, and according to the basic principles of the world. Interesting thing is that we have been warned against not just any principles of the world, but the basic principles! I would have thought that if we have been rooted and built up in Jesus, we wouldn't be swayed so easily..but then again even the basic principles of the world can cheat us and deceive us, i don't think it should be looked upon lightly.

Then in v9-10 it talks about Jesus' fullness, and us being complete in Him, who is the head of ALL principality and power. Amen! Being complete in Him, means to be be made whole and made perfect. And you can't get any better than perfect! So i would anytime choose the complete and full life, over the empty and meaningless life. Not to mention that He is the head of all principality and power (e.g demons of all kinds and ranks)!

You are the maker of heaven, you turned my world around, your making all things new again, through it all i know, you are God of all

Hi lawlaw,

it's me again...as i read your devotion today...the word 'abounding' really grabbed my attention, because that word has caught my eyes the other day as i was reading the Bible.

2 Corinthians 9:6-9

6Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap spaingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7Each man should give what he has decided in his heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. 8And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

^^ it is so great that by serving God and sow for Him with what He has given us through thanksgiving, He shall give us more. Let's continue to be thankful with the provision and abundance in our lives, and continue to bear more fruits for Him!

Have a blessed day!

xoxo
