another long day of studies non-stop.. so much reading that my eyes are killing me..bleh..Oh well, that's what students do anyway..so i just have to do it the best of my abilities!

This morning i read about gatekeepers of the old covenant in the old testament, which was pretty cool.. but i wanna just quickly share about something aaron gave me to hear while we were at his place studying tonight. He let me listen to one of the cd's he got from his old church back in kuching the last time he went back. The church back there was really on fire and just by listening to the recording itself is pretty amazing..the worship went on for ages(i think 2-3hrs?) Then they had a guest speaker Ps Franky i think to preach. He preached on Matthew 9:16-17, and he focused on the new wineskin.

16 No one puts a piece of unshrunk cloth on an old garment; for the patch pulls away from the garment, and the tear is made worse. 17 Nor do they put new wine into old wineskins, or else the wineskins break, the wine is spilled, and the wineskins are ruined. But they put new wine into new wineskins, and both are preserved.”

From what i hear, the church back in kuching(EBC - Emmanuel Baptist Church) had a revival not long ago and its still continuing. So anyway, this pastor was saying that revival was gonna come to the church since the cd was from 2005/06, and that before revival comes they had to get rid of their old wineskin, and have a new wineskin. New wineskin is power, its represents new anointing and new power, it also represents a new mentality, a renewed way of thinking. We need to let go of the old and put on the new, in order for God to fill us up with fresh stuff.

After that he went on to teach 3 points on how we are to change the old wineskin into the new wineskin.
  1. Get rid of old negative mindsets
  2. Start to make room in our thinking
  3. Develop a healthy self image about ourselves
He briefly talked about each one of the points since the sermon wasn't really long, and the service had already gone on for 3hrs..But basically he said that we need to change our mindsets first because our thoughts precedes our actions, and sometimes our mindsets are strongholds, so we need to get a new mindset. We need to start making room for God in our thinking and start dreaming BIG for God! (Big heart, Big vision) He said something which i found interesting, 'God will not be offended if we ask big things from Him, but He will be offended if we don't'. We are to increase our level of expectancy from God, because we will receive what we expect. If we expect little, we receive little, if we expect failure, we receive failure, but if we expect great things, we will receive great things! And lastly, we need to develop a healthy self image about ourselves because we are what we think we are. In God we are more than conquerers! He talked a bit about the 'grasshopper mentality' which was when the twelve spies went to check out the land of Canaan, and ten of them came back with negative reports. We mustn't curse ourselves by what we say and we need to recognize our self worth in God.

I'm pretty sure lots of other stuff were said too, but im tired and its late, so i'll just stop here..

With everything with everything we will shout forth Your glory, With everything with everything we will shout forth Your praise..

Hi Lawlaw =)

Thanks for keep writing entries into the blog despite of your tight schedule with studies, i get really strengthened from reading your walk with God. Anyway, I read your entry and it reminded me of something that I read earlier on this week, hope you find it useful!

Jun 23 - See Yourself Strong

"And we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight."
(Numbers 13:33)

Dear,

How does the devil see you? Does he see you as a terrifying and mighty warrior of God...or does he see you as a wimp he can whip in a minute?

The answer to that question depends on you. I realized that one day as I was studying the children of Israel and their failure to enter the Promised Land. The key to their failure is found in these words: "And we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in theirs."

The reason the Israelites were so terrified to fight the giants in Canaan wasn't because those giants were so big. It was because the Israelites saw themselves as so small! It was what they were in their own sight that defeated them.

The same thing is true for you as a believer. It's what you are in your own sight that will make the difference. If, in your own sight, you're a weak, powerless Christian, the devil will run over you three or four times a day or more if he's not busy. But when you begin to see yourself as God sees you, as a conquering son or daughter of the Almighty God equipped with the very power of God Himself, the devil will want to steer clear of you.

The devil would rather do anything than come against somebody who's bold and courageous, because he's a coward himself. In fact, ever since Jesus came up out of that grave, Satan's heart has melted within him at the sound of that Name in the mouth of one who has faith in it.

If you're not strong in the Lord in your own sight, you need to change that. You need to get so full of God's Word and so full of the Holy Ghost that you walk around like a spiritual giant. Turn the tables on the devil and let him find out what it feels like to be a grasshopper for a change.

Scripture Study: Numbers 13:17-33

So, all the best with your other exams and I claim victory in all areas of life in jesus' name!

xoxo
