haha wow.. another crazy day at church.. had more new kids at children's church today so praise God! Worship was good, but at the same time so much more could be done to improve it, and i know we're getting there. Just realized that i haven't been for the adult worship service for a long time, really missing the Holy Spirit's presence there..But once i teach some of the other teachers how to do the screen, we're gonna start rotating!
Today i read Psalms 39:1-5.
1 I said, “I will guard my ways,
Lest I sin with my tongue;
I will restrain my mouth with a muzzle,
While the wicked are before me.”
2 I was mute with silence,
I held my peace even from good;
And my sorrow was stirred up.
3 My heart was hot within me;
While I was musing, the fire burned.
Then I spoke with my tongue:
4 “LORD, make me to know my end,
And what is the measure of my days,
That I may know how frail I am.
5 Indeed, You have made my days as handbreadths,
And my age is as nothing before You;
Certainly every man at his best state is but vapor. Selah
It's a short and simple passage which is just inspiring to read. I liked the first verse where King David says he will guard his ways, lest he sin's with his tongue. King David was a really wise man, and a lot of the stuff he says are really meaningful. I think this applies to all of us at all times of the day, we got to be mindful of what we do and what we speak. If just by speaking alone we can cause so much trouble, problems, and sin..what more about our actions, since actions speak louder than words. We have to be on our guard at all times, against the enemy and especially against ourselves..i would say that i am one of my biggest enemy and weakness. Before i sidetrack, just wanna emphasis how easily it easy to sin with our tongues. There are many ways like lying, gossiping, spreading rumors, putting others down, swearing/cursing, and lots lots more.. Even when telling jokes, and we take it too far, and accidentally exaggerate a bit, or in the process of the joke put someone down..im pretty sure that can be counted as a sin too! So be careful little tongue what you speak.
Then in v4 King David prayed that God will make him to know his end, the measure of his days, and how frail he is. I thought that it was a pretty good thing to pray about, i would also want to pray that God will show us how frail our lives are, and the measure of our days. Every day when we wake up is another gift from God that we're still breathing and alive. Life is so frail that anything can happen and we can never tell when our time's gonna be up. It could whenever! Are we just taking God as a fire insurance, against the lake of fire? We gotta be thankful to God for every single opportunity that He's given us, and not take for granted what we've been given. Life is full of unexpected things, but one thing we know for sure that will never change is God. May we be urgent and busy about our Father's buisness.
And you never change, God you remain, the Holy one of your unfailing love, unfailing love...
