11 And we desire that each one of you show the same diligence to the full assurance of hope until the end, 12 that you do not become sluggish, but imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promises.
Two more awesome verses which really spoke to me and pushed me on. We're meant to show the same diligence tot he full assurance of hope until the end, so it's a constant thing which isn't like a roller coaster that goes up and down. We want to be able to maintain the fire that is within us, and not let it be just another 'high' moment where it dies off after a few weeks or months. v12 really spoke to me as to how we're meant to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit the promise. After reading the second part of v12, i thought to myself who could i imitate? I guess this is the part where the spiritual leaders come in, people like the pastors, and the more mature spiritual brothers/sisters that i have and who look after me. And as i imitate them, i might be able to be someone who others can imitate. But the key points in v12 was through faith and patience. One thing i learnt from Ps Judah Smith's sermon yesterday was that we have to realise that the Bible was written for us and nobody else! We have to understand that the Bible is speaking to us, and not about the people around us, or those whom we think need the Word more than us! Until we get to that point of realisation, the Bible will just continue to be a storybook to us where we read what's inside it, take it in as a story, and nothing more. The Bible is for US, and speaks to US.
Day 46.
Today talked more about the different kinds of offering.. it seems as though it's repeating itself. Read about how the Israelites were to go about giving the grain offering, offering of the first fruits, and sin offering. The one thing that i took away from today's reading was that God looks after us and provides for us when we do His work. In a lot of the offerings, a portion of it would be set apart for Aaron and his sons since they don't have any livestock or farms to sort of keep a proper income, and they're job to serve as priest unto the Lord. So because of that, God looks after them, and provides for them all that they need so that they are not lacking. Anyway, now we don't have to give any of these different kinds of offering to God anymore, since Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice for us all!
